AU Backstory:
Once upon a time, there was a boy named Souji Seta who was shuttled off to live with his uncle in Inaba for a year. He did not like this! He liked this SO LITTLE that his dislike turned itself into Shadow beings!
Basically in this AU every member of the Investigation Team is a Shadow Being born from Souji's mind, each one representing a different issue he has to work through. Yukikowl here is born from his sympathy with Nanako and her painful home life, and represents his desire to have someone take care of him in the way that his parents never did.
Additional
The base behind this AU was a popular fan theory, that Teddie was a Shadow born from the protagonist, which explains why he was able to appear in the Velvet Limo. The idea that spawned the AU was 'what if the entire IT were Shadows like Teddie?' The second biggest difference in this AU after that is that, naturally, the IT don't have human counterparts, so a significant part of their backstories now include their attempts to fit into human society. In Yukikowl's case, her uncanny resemblance to Mrs. Amagi's long-dead daughter has resulted in her part-time job working as a receptionist at the Amagi Inn.
One thing to note is that while Adachi is present in this AU as a 'wolf in sheep's clothing' mascot, he is not a Shadow born from Souji - rather, he's a human slowly turning into a Shadow Being from wallowing in his desires.
As for the Investigation Team, Frogsuke was born from Souji's boredom in the country and desire for something fun to do, Chiepony was created from his realization of the power of Social Links and his desire for people to need him, Teddie and Risepup were born from his worries that his personality was being fragmented from the power of Persona, and Peakanji was born from his worries about sexual orientation and desire to be masculine. Nyaoto was never picked up, so there's no actual information on her in this AU.


AU Differences :
1. This Yukiko is a Shadow creature, much like Teddie.
2. The entire Investigation Team sans the Protagonist are all Shadow creatures, as is Adachi.
3. Each of the Mascots is a Shadow born from Souji and is representative of how he feels about Inaba and his life there.

Canon Standing: During the summer after securing Mitsuo Kubo/before the Secret Base dungeon opens up.

Personality:
Usual Stuff
Yukikowl is friendly and approachable, but just a little 'off' - prone to odd digressions or strange turns of phrase. There's a large part of her personality that still thinks it's an owl, which tends to color her perceptions and actions - that person is shifty and ratlike, so she enjoys doing things that make them twitch, that person reminds her of a barn owl so she will treat them as a valuble underling, and so on and so forth. She'll often wander off when something distracts her, only to turn up a short while later, often in some place physically improbable for her to have gotten in such a short amount of time. Despite her total inability to fly, she's fond of high places and is an accomplished climber. Just...don't expect her to get down without help.
With Friends
Yukikowl is very powerfully physically affectionate with those she's especially close to and will almost never willingly let go of them - this is exceptionally apparent with Chie and Rise, her two favorite people. When Chie is nearby - and not doing anything else - Yukiko will constantly move into her path, worm under her arms, and in general shamelessly beg for cuddles. She is more dominant with Rise and will shower her with hugs and pull her in to cuddle almost constantly - in effect treating her like a beloved lapdog. She enjoys discussing the finer points of fashion with Kanji, the two of them often comparing the colors of various clothes and which would look better on them. She has a casual friendship with Teddie - she acknowledges him as the one that helped bring the IT together by finding their homes, but has difficulty dealing with his boundless enthusiasm. She has something of a love/hate relationship with Yosuke - they are both keenly aware that frogs are part of an owl's diet, and Yukiko finds it hilarious when he panics. Deep down, Yukiko would never even consider actually eating him, but it's not like she ever plans on telling him that.
With Others
Around people she doesn't know, she doesn't actually bother hiding anything - for the most part, she is perfectly content to act in the same manner she usually does and simply let people draw whatever conclusions they wish. Combined with her easily-triggered temper, this has lead to her gaining a reputation as something of an unapproachable beauty.

Okay, so. Yukiko is a literal incarnation of a desire to be cared for. As a result, she's kind of fixated on 'scoring herself a hot stud' because then she'll never have to worry about being left alone, right?? In terms of her personality, she's kind of a flirt and spends a lot of time trying to be fashionable, since as far as she's concerned the best way to attract people is by showing off her mating plumage. Another part of this is that she's tremendously protective of what she perceives as her 'dignity', and therefore does not take well to people to pointing out the various gaffs she makes trying to fit into human society. When it's a relative stranger pointing them out, she'll give them the cold shoulder, with perhaps a veiled warning or two that they need to apologize. Within the Investigation Team, only Yosuke regularly manages to irritate Yukiko, which helps contribute to their love/hate relationship. A good way to summarize would be say that she's not a meaner Yukiko, but rather a nicer Shadow Yukiko.
